INDIA'S TEST OPENERS SOLIDITY

" INDIAN TEAM HAS NUMEROUS OPTIONS TO GO FOR WHEN IT COMES
                   TO OPENING IN TEST MATCHES"

      STARTING WITH:

  1) ROHIT SHARMA

Rohit Sharma a 32 year old opening batsman had already made his name as one of the best indian openers in the limited overs cricket he started his test career too like a middle order batsman more specifically as a lower order batsman but for the first time against South Africa he got the chance to open in the longest format of the game and he played an innings of 212 runs in that series. He had already scored 3 double centuries in ODI cricket and 4 centuries in t20 cricket, but he came to the test side as a number 4 batsman who can bowl but due to the fact that MS Dhoni brought him up as an opener in ODI and t20 cricket he made a point that he could be considered for the longest format of the game before that he was not very successful as batsman and even was not considered for the 2011 world cup squad due to his inconsistency and knack of gifting away his wicket. For now he is in the list of first choice opener.

He wasn’t able to do much in the shorter formats of the game but made a comeback in the test side after a brilliant domestic season in 2012-2013 and made a 167 against Australia and made subsequent 150 plus scores and became a highest run getter with 430 runs, he went on to score 97 in Durban, 95 in Lords, 99 in Adelaide, 144 in Gaba, 150 against Bangladesh, fifties against South Africa and 2 centuries against England in a home series, despite having such a run in Test cricket it is very grim that he will be able to make a comeback in this or any other format of the game. He has scored 3982 runs in test cricket.

After a series of good performances in limited overs of cricket and of course domestic cricket he was finally selected in the test side but was not able to make it to playing eleven. He finally got a chance when India toured England and a century at lords almost cemented his place as a first choice opener. He made his test debut in 2018 against Australia at MCG where he played few handy knocks, he didn’t got chance in home series and after a quite stint against West Indies, he played exceptionally well against South Africa which was a home series in which he scored 340 runs which include a century and a double ton in just 3 games. He was replaced by Rohit Sharma due to poor run in India's tour of Australia in 2020-2021 midway, still he may play a vital role in the future as he was not dropped from the squad. He played a vital knock of 69 runs in the final of Vijay Hazare Trophy to help his domestic team Karnataka to win the trophy fourth time. THE CURIOUS CASE OF ROHIT AND RAHUL

"Both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have been part of Indian limited over side for quite A long period of time with Rahul getting selected in the longest format of the game but didn't getting a chance in the playing eleven shows the team's inclination towards giving the chances to youngsters and the foremost reasons for that was his failures in the past and Rohit didn't opened in this format for a very long period of time but played down the order quite a few time"

'Here I will be telling you how their career are upholding'

Well both of them are exceptional cricketers but the dynamics they both share and the role that they played have varied throughout their career.

So if we talk about KL Rahul his test career have not gone that smoothly as compared to the limited overs cricket may be because of some continuous failures or may be number of options that are available with the selectors in the longest format of the game, still he had scored 2321 runs in 40 games and his highest test score of 199  came against England.

Recently he made a sensational comeback century on lords cricket ground that have guaranteed that he will become one of the India's first choice opener in the longest format of the game because he have done it in the most difficult conditions of England.

In ODI cricket his position of batting was always under scrutiny that where he could bat to bring out the best from him, according to him he always preferred to open.

In 2019 world cup he was selected as a middle order batsman especially as number 4 batsman but Shikhar Dhawan's injury in the middle forced the team to bring him up the order but afterwards he was also tried at number 3 and when Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer was not in the team he was finally settled at number 5 where he scored his highest ODI score of 112.

In t20 cricket he certainly become a different player as if he belongs to that format completely and it become really hard for the bowlers when he gets going he has been india's 3d player for quite a long period of time and scored 1751 runs in 53 matches in which his highest score of 110  came against England.

Apart from Kl Rahul Rohit Sharma is also considered to be king of the limited overs cricket but his career got drastically changed in 2013 when he was brought up by india's former captain MS Dhoni and became one of the best opener of limited overs cricket. He is considered to be the best puller of the ball.

In t20 cricket he was part of as many as 116  matches and scored 4 centuries but what's more was he didn't started his career as an opener but he batted down the order but he didn't got much success at that position. Till now he has scored 3038 runs  with a highest score of 118 in this format.

In ODI Cricket his career have gone smoothly as compared to the longest and shortest format of the game, he has played such a vital role in the victories of indian cricket but what's more special about this format for him is that he has 3 double centuries in this format of the game and as many as 29 centuries. he has scored 9205 in 227 games which include the highest score of 264 which has not been made by anyone else till now.

Test cricket which is considered to be the toughest format of the game and even in this format he did'nt started his career as an opener but batted down the order but for the first time he was brought up the order where he really loves to bat in the limited overs cricket  when South Africa toured india it was like he was litterally starting his career as a test opener and what's next was he scored his first double century in test cricket in which he scored 212 runs and scored as many as 8 centuries in making 3047 runs in just 43 matches.

The fact that no other team has same openers for the shortest and the longest format of the game made this duo much more special.

IPL- 2021

"Every year IPL came up with some brilliant young talents and that's the beauty of this tournament but generally the tournaments that happens in two phases that too in two different countries struggles to make an impact that it usually make every year but that is not with the case of this tournament here we will get to know about some astonishing performances by the young indian batters and bowlers"

Batters

Ruturaj Gaikwad the Emerging Player of the season have impressed all of us with his clean hitting skills and some prolific opening partnerships with his fellow teammate Faf Du Plessis and scored 635 runs in 16 matches whch includes 1 century and 4 half centuries for Chennai Super Kings, the biggest aspect of gaikwad's batting was the consistency with which he bats. Although he didn't got many chances in 2020 because he was infected with Covid-19 initially which kept him away from cricket for quite a time but he played only 6 games and scored 204 runs including 3 half centuries with an average of more than 50.

Venkatesh Iyer could also be said as the find of this year's IPL the explosive opener played for KKR in the second phase of the tournament and could be termed as one of the biggest reasons for the turnaround of the franchise after a horrible first phase of the tournament. he scored 370 runs in 10 games which includes 4 half centuries, the most impressive aspects of his batting was the explosiveness and ease with which he hits the sixes

Prithvi Shaw has always been an impressive opener for Delhi Capitals the most characterstic of his batting is he loves to dominate the bowler in the power play which also gives a good start to his franchise. he was not at his best in the previous season and got dropped from the side but he made a strong comeback in this year's IPL when he scored 479 runs in 15 games he was part of.

Ishan Kishan played some good knocks in the first phase of the tournament but was not able to continue his great touch in the second phase of the tournament and struggled a lot playing at number 4 but still he managed to score 241 runs in 10 games which includes only 2 fifties but that's not it the franchise tried him as an opener in couple of matches and he did'nt disappoint by playing some explendid knocks in the end.

Devdutt Padikkal the left handed opener have always been at the top of his game but his career best came against Rajasthan Royals in the first phase of the tournament where he scored an astonishing century. the 21 year old also scored a half century against CSK but his form got a dip after that and he managed to score 411 runs in 14 games.

Shubman Gill is considered to be one of the most dangerous backfoot player and struggled alot in the first phase of the tournament, but played some breathtaking knocks in the second phase of the IPL and scored most amount of runs for KKR. he scored 478 runs which includes 3 half centuries, he was one of the main reason why KKR went on to play the finals.

19 year old Yashasvi Jaiwal has impressed all of us with his gritty knocks although he made only one half century against CSK but it came in just 19 deliveries which was the second fastest fifty by an uncapped player. he scored 249 runs in 10 games for his franchise which showed how talented this young lad is. his most astonishing feature was to play agressively in power play.

Srikar Bharat always looked so promising and dependable for his franchise when he batted at number 3 although he only scored a single half century which came in the last league match of his franchise where he finished the game with a six. he scored 191 runs in just 8 matches.

Bowlers

Harshal Patel was the most effective player in the bowling department who took most number of wickets in the season for his franchise. he was also the most valuable player of the season, he took 32 wickets in the season and also bowled death overs for his team and took a fifer against the most successful IPL team.

Avesh Khan was the 2nd most successful IPL bowler who took 24 wickets in 16 matches and has been very improved bowler who did'nt got many games in the past but made huge impact in this year's tournament with the use of his variations.

Arshdeep Singh have impressed a lot of people with his pace and took 18 wickets in 12 games.he register his career best figures when he took a fifer against RR.

Kartik Tyagi didnt got many chances in the playing eleven as he was only part of 4 games in which he took 4 wickets. but his best could be regarded as the match against the Punjab Kings where he     defended 4 runs in last over.

Shivam Mavi is the most improved bowler in this year's IPL. although he got smashed for boundaries in the first phase of the tournament but made a strong comeback in the second phase of the tournament. he took 9 wickets in eleven games and a career best 4fer.

Umran Malik shocked everyone with his pace as he bowled some of the fastest deliveries in this year's IPL. although he only got 3 games where he took 2 wickets because it was a horrible season for his franchise as his team finished last.

Harpreet Brar has made a big impact by giving some important breakthrough to his team although he only got 7 games in which he took 5 wickets but has shown that he has a very bright future.

Chetan Sakariya the left arm pacer have been acurate with his bowling although he didnt have raw pace but he used his variations very effectively. he took 14 wickets in 14 matches.

Mohammed Siraj is the best example of what hardwork dedication could do, the siraj turnaround from one of the most expensive bowler to one of the most improved bowler. and we cannot take away the credit from his skipper Virat Kohli who always backed him up to do well. also the experience that he got from international cricket made him a gun bowler. he took 11 wickets in 15 matches but the most important aspect of his bowling was his economical spells which was his problem everytime but not this time.

Varun Chakravarthy the mystery spinner have made the things difficult for the batsman whenever he came to ball. the most important characterstic of his bowling was his economy was less than 5 and sometimes bowled in the most difficult overs that is in the power play.

Ravi Bishnoi was the X factor of the Punjab Kings as batsman have really struglled to pick his bowling and have performed even better than his previous season. he took 12 wickets in 9 matches which was quite an explendid performance.

"IPL have always played a big role in showing the capabilities of the youngsters also it is considered as one of the main reasons how a youngster could get into the national side. the tournament have a great significance because it is one of the most competitive domestic tournament."

BORDER GAVASKAR TROPHY 2021

" THIS BORDER GAVASKAR TROPHY CAME AS A BLESSING FOR INDIAN CRICKET FANS NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS A THRILLING SERIES AND HAPPENING IN AUSTRALIA BUT ALSO BECAUSE IT WAS HAPPENING AFTER A LONG COVID BREAK"

The ODI series started with a loss for men in blue that shows that their is some rust in the form of the players but australia was as always looking at the top of their game, may be the reason was that international cricket came earlier for australian team as compared to the indian team . The indian team only got IPL to get into the groove of international cricket after a long covid break, but india did finish on a high with winning the last ODI of the 3 match ODI series. Also Thangrasu Natrajan made his ODI debut in the last match of this ODI series.

The men in blue made a turn around in the t20's by thumping australia in the first two games and although it was brilliant team performance but Hardik Pandya's finishing abilities came in handy in this t20 series but Thangarasu Natrajan having a fairytale story from being a yorker king for IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad to getting selected as a net bowler in limited overs cricket and then getting into the side as a proper player due to the injury of Varun Chakravarthy. T Natrajan inclusion was a brilliant thing for indian team due to the fact that he was a left arm pacer and brings variety to the pace attack and secondly he had a brilliant IPL.

" IN THE MORDERN ERA OF CRICKET WE THINK THAT TEST SERIES IS LOSING ITS IMPORTANCE AND FUN BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE IF ANY PERSON HAVE WATCHED THIS SERIES, IT WAS SO THRILLING THAT EVERY MATCH CAN BE NAMED AS AN EPISODE OF A WEB SERIES"

THE ADELAIDE HORROR SHOW

The first test match was a forgettable test match for indian cricket team which will not be forgetted by them or even by the fans for a quite a long period of time. Although the start of the match was fairly good for the indian team and then everything falls apart for them as the team got all out on merely 36 runs, everyone was shocked terrified and left stranded after the game ended. The pink ball test became a nightmare for them, basically the fans were scared that how this team could make a comeback against this strong australian side also without Virat Kohli and even the cricket experts have predicted that their is no chance of a comeback and a whitewash is on the cards for australia.

The skipper Virat Kohli did'nt left the australian soil without making a plan for the most epic comeback of his evidently fearless team.

THE MCG COMEBACK (BOXING DAY TEST)

The comeback was in the mind of indian cricket team but to make a comeback the most important thing is to forget about the things that happened in the past and that's what indian team does. The melbourne test comes up with the debut of two young talent Shubman Gill and Mohammad Siraj and both performed fairly well for the team but after getting Australia all out on 195 it was the innings of 112 runs by the skipper Ajinkya Rahane and the finishing role of Ravindra Jadeja in which he made 57 runs  that stand apart in the score of 326 piled up by team india which paved the way for an epic and a remarkable win against Australia by 8 wickets as india just got a target of 70 runs after getting Australia all out on 200 in second innings.

THE SYDNEY FIGHT BACK ( THE PINK TEST)

The series was leveled after an epic comeback of indian team in 2nd test match. This test match showed great fighting spirit by both the teams, for Australia Will Puckovski made a dream debut by scoring a firm 62 and for india Rohit Sharma made a comeback in test side after completing his quarantine. Apart from Puckovski another youngster who performed well was Cameron Green, Also Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith top performed for Australia and shut the mouths of the people who were doubting him. For India Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara performed brilliantly and Rishabh Pant's 97 was very entertaining which almost have set the stage for a victory of indian team but after his wicket India was left with only two options either to go for a draw and save the match or to go for a win and risk the match but india's batsman Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari went for the draw and took everything on their body and showed pure class and resilience against the mighty Australia.

THE GABBA CONQUERED

The final test match was a very interesting one because of many reasons. For Australia Marnus Labuschagne and Tim Paine played superbly in the first innings and almost set the stage for comfortable win for Australia but for India two youngsters Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar stood apart against the Kangaroos they made sure that India did not finish far behind the Australians.
As the innings progressed the game become interesting in the second innings Australia managed to score 294 runs in second innings in which Steve Smith scored a 55 and Warner scored a 48 as major contributions as a bowler Siraj's fifer and Thakur's 4fer helped india to restrict Australia on 294 runs finally Australia gave a target of 329 runs on the last day of the match and then it was all about Shubman Gill's 91, Pujara's 56 and Pant's 89 which led to remarkable victory in Gabba for the Indian Cricket Team not only that it was after 32 years Australia was defeated on Gabba and the indian victory became remarkable as they won the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the third time.

" THIS TEST VICTORY SHOWED THAT INDIA IS READY FOR ANY CHALLENGE THAT CAME ACROSS THEIR WAY AFTER FIGHTING WITH SO MANY INJURIES THEY STAND APART AGAINST ALL THE ODDS"
